NEW Moon Challenge

Hey Everyone

I know that I’ve told you about my full moon rituals before but hey, what about new moons? They’re special too and we have a fabulous one on Wednesday October 6, 2021 in the sign of Libra.

New Moons are usually a day of reflection and visualization. A monthly date-night with our own imaginations. I plan to let my date dress up and go to town! I’ve already set up a little station with paper, magazines, a gluestick and some scissors. We’re going old-school babyyyy.

Now here’s something exciting that I didn’t know before:

New moons mark the start of a chapter that will end when there is a corresponding FULL MOON in the same sign 6 months later. In this case, April 16, 2022. So I have a challenge for you. Spend some time journalling under the new moon and then look at those notes again around April 16, 2022. It will be interesting to see what shows up for you. Full moons have a way of illuminating key areas, and my guess is that your case will be no different.

Challenge accepted?

Before I run off, please be warned that Mercury is still retrograde and that this can cause miscommunication + issues with technology/mechanics and at the time of this new moon, this energy will be amplified. It’s nothing to worry about, just something to remember so that when things go belly-up (like the Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp blackout on Monday) you find ways to ground yourself.

I have faith in you. Happy new moon, friends!

Love,

I DID IT! + **Cover Reveal**

Hey Guys

I have some great news to share with you. I’ve just signed off the cover for my book.

I’m so excited, I just had to share it with you.

That’s me!

That’s mine!

I did it!!

As you can see, my story is a very personal one. The courage to tell it did not come easy. I had the usual fears that people do whenever they are dealing with opening up but I could not (and did not) let the fear get in the way. I pushed through it because in my heart I know one thing: I have a story that only I can tell – and it deserves to be heard!

The pretty me on the cover did not come easy either. I worked with a wonderful photographer, Karianne Munstedt, as well as hair and makeup people to turn out that way. What a treat.

It’s been a long journey and now that I am finally standing at the finish line…well, the joy is indescribable.

Thank you for listening and letting me share my joy with you. The next time you hear from me, I’ll be telling how you can get yourself a copy of my book.

Until then, I wish you the courage to share your story too. Trust me, the sense of accomplishment is pretty priceless.

Love,

Cara – Seeker of Magic, Spreader of Light

**P.S. The cover was designed by the wonderful South African graphic artist, Chrissy Harvey. I highly recommend her!

TEMPLE KEEPING – Creating a Sacred Space

Hello Lovelies!

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to create order and beauty. Sorting and organizing soothes me and keeping my house spick and span has become a vital part of my spiritual well being.

When life throws me a curve ball, and it’s thrown me PLENTY (which you can read about in my book very soon) nothing grounds me quite like cleaning my house does. When crisis ensues, my first reaction is to schedule a couple of days to get intimate with my house and escape the world.

For me, housework is a spiritual experience and involves a number of rituals. First I choose my soundtrack, whatever I need to inspire me to action. Sometimes it’s Stevie Wonder and sometimes its Tibetan sound bowls. WHATEVER KEEPS ME MOVING.

Windows are opened to release stale energy and dirty linens are piled into the washing machine for a sanitizing and refreshing. Every surface is polished and all of my keepsakes are given a bath in hot soapy water.

I am always filled with gratitude as I explore every corner of my home searching for dirt. I am reminded of all that I already have and this really uplifts my mood.

My final cleansing ritual is to smudge the entire house with my favorite herb to clear the energy. I like to use native herbs that grow in my garden. Rosemary is my favorite.

I also look forward to filling the house with bouquets of fresh flowers after I have made it sparkle. Flowers make the house feel happy and serene and treating myself to them every week is also part of my self-care routine – whether the house is clean or not!

Happy Temple Keeping,

Cara – Seeker of Magic, Spreader of Light

Healing Through Writing

Hello my lovely friends and readers

So I may (or may not) have mentioned to you I have written a book. It is going to be published in just a couple of weeks. Sitting down to write my story was mixed-bag of slow, pleasure and pain. I wanted to tell the story as factually accurate as possible — so it was necessary to put in the sweaty emotional work.

My incredible editor and writing coach helped me so much! She encouraged me not to get caught up in fear, not to censor my feelings and definitely NOT to worry what other people think of me or my story. “It is YOUR story, Cara,” she would say in her voice notes. “If other people don’t like it, tough shit.”

That was transformative.

The dwarf planet, Chiron reminds me of the writing process.
This planet is named after a centaur (a creature with the head, arms, and torso of a man and the body and legs of a horse) who in Greek mythology who had incredible healing powers. Sadly he could not heal himself from the wound of a poison arrow and died. Chiron represents deep sources of wounding and healing in our lives. It’s the soft-spot that feels vulnerable, unloved and hurt — a part that we cannot fix ourselves. I believe that writing can help us in this respect. *Dear Chiron, I hope you’re listening…for your next life, wink-wink*

So if you are thinking of writing your story I would suggest you just do it. Don’t wait for the right moment. Don’t worry about what others will think of you. Just go for it! And if you are looking for someone to help you with the process, contact Lee. Her website is www.leemayimele.com

Namaste,

ABRACADABRA – I CREATE WHAT I SPEAK

Hey Friends!

Have you ever wished you could just say, “Abracadabra” and have whatever it is you desire magically appear before your eyes? I know I have. Abracadabra is actually an Aramaic phrase meaning I create what I speak.

Speaking our desires out loud is one of the most powerful ways to manifest and doing it with others can multiply what we receive.

Last 4th of July I participated in a money manifestation exercise with a group of other women. We were invited to hold some currency in our hands and to speak our requests for more money out loud.

Nine days later the Divine let me know my request had been heard loud and clear. I pulled up to the first stop sign on my morning commute and was stunned to see that the road was littered with cash.

The sun was still hiding behind the hills and I was completely alone. I turned off my engine, gathered up the cash like a giddy little child and said thank you to the Universe for my gift.

The Maya sacred calendar teaches that certain days are more auspicious to make requests of Spirit than others. It works in cycles. Some are short and some are long. A Trecena is just 13 days while a Baktun is 13,000 years.

The date 13.0.0.0.0. 4 Ajpu 8 Cumku is inscribed throughout the ancient Maya area. This date is said to be the beginning of the creation era we currently live in. Each 4 Ajpu day is considered a powerful day when we can create. Ajpu represents the divinity in our physical world. Combined with the stability of the number 4 it is an ideal creation day.

July 4th begins a No’j Trecena and July 7th is a 4 Ajpu day. The current Baktun began on December 21, 2012 which was also a 4 Ajpu day during a No’j Trecena. A powerful time for co-creating with the Divine and bringing the new into our world.

Set your intentions, make your prayers and say, write or draw them. You may be amazed by what you can create. Last Summer my daughter and her boyfriend were dreaming of moving in together and having a high rise view. She put her vision onto canvas. Just a few short months later she got exactly what she asked for.

HAPPY MANIFESTING!

xoxo

Connecting with Our Ancestors – June 7th 2021

This Spring we lost my mother-in-law Martha and our beloved cat Dottie just thirteen short days apart. The same number of days in a Mayan Trecena.

I was comforted by the fact that Martha passed first and that she was there to greet her grand kitty on the other side. They would have each other.

The Mayan sacred calendar is 260 days long and is comprised of twenty thirteen day periods called Trecenas. Today is the last day of the Tjax Trecena that began on May 26th.

According to Mayan Astrology, each day consists of a number between 1 and 13 combined with one of 20 nawales. Today’s combination is 13 Tz’i.

On thirteen days it is said that this world and the spirit world are closest together. Thirteen is also the number most associated with our ancestors. The totem animal of the nawal Tz’i is the dog and it embodies the qualities of guidance, faith and loyalty. It is a day when we can expect to feel the guidance and loyalty of our ancestors.

I am reminded of Martha today. Not just because she has crossed over, but also because she carried the nawal of Tjax with the number 13 and she loved her fur babies. Today feels like the perfect day to connect with her.

My husband and I felt called to create an alter to her with her ashes and some of her favorite things in front of our fireplace. We light a candle every day, play music she enjoyed and thank her for living the life that she lived. It has been an incredibly healthy and profound way for us both to grieve her passing.

I would invite you all to connect with your own ancestors in any way that is meaningful to you today. You are likely to hear the whispers of their soul with more clarity than ever before.

Martha

I used to wish I knew you BEFORE

Before you couldn’t remember

Some how, you always remembered MY name

Even though you didn’t know me before you couldn’t remember

Now I know that I have always known you

You live inside my beloved

Every caring gesture, every joyful exclaim

It’s YOU smiling at me through him

I know that you are at peace and finally free

I know that you will always be with us

Know that you are loved and remembered sweet Martha

Thank YOU!

Hey Friends

Just a quick one from me to say thank you.

It was not easy to take the first step and start this website and blog. I had all the normal fears that people have – and a little extra! The spotlight has not been my favourite place in recent years and the media has caused me and my family a lot of anxiety. It affected my mental health. I took a long time to open myself up again.

But I did it!

And I am ready to share my story too. My book is coming out really soon and I can’t wait to tell you more.

Sharing our stories is a big part of how we can help each other heal and grow.

So thank you! Thank you, thank you for holding space for me.
